It was a dark and stormy night … what? It was! The fog was amazing. See?

We took the kids to a little forest preserve area not too far from here. It was really humid – did you see that fog from the wee hours? It only thinned out a bit by morning. The kids got all hot and sweaty running around.

I took some pictures of pretty trees and interesting plants.

Water!

There were little minnows in that water, but it’s hard to tell from the pic.

No idea what these are either, but they looked cool.

Horses!

After we got home it downpoured. And I mean sheets of water! After a bit, it stopped raining and cleared up a little, so we went back out to run some errands. While we were out, it downpoured again. Dane got stuck in one store, and me and the kids in another while we all waited it out. No way any of us were running to the car in that! Took about 20 minutes for it to finally let up enough for us to make a run for it.
After we got home, taadaa! Rainbow! I saw it as we were getting out of the car.

While I was getting pictures of the rainbow, one of our neighbors walked by with his dog. Now, this is my kid’s favorite dog in the entire complex. They know most of them by name, since they would sometimes go hang out by the office where people walk by to pick up a little dog treat. They want a dog really bad, but that’s not happening any time soon, so they make do ambushing all the dog owners around here. “Can we pet your dog?” LOL
This little guy is half American Eskimo and half Shiba Inu, and he doesn’t hold still long enough to get a clear picture. Whenever he sees the kids he starts going crazy, wiggling and straining at his leash to jump on them and give them doggie kisses. It seems to be a mutual admiration. 😀

And that’s how we spent an October weekend day. 🙂
