7 Day Photo Challenge Day 7

Phone Pics 2017 B FEB (13)

Sally, over at Hot Dogs and Marmalade, tagged me in a challenge!  This challenge is “a photography challenge that involves posting personal nature photos for seven days.”  I decided to choose one picture from each year that I’ve had a phone camera.

Thank you, Sally, for thinking of me!

As for you – consider yourself tagged if you’d like to play along!

This 7th and final picture from my nature series is from this past February, 2017.  For a couple days the weather was behaving really wonky, a bit warmer than usual, and it created a lot of heavy morning fog as there had been some snow melt, too.  It was such an ethereal effect and gave the place a real dream-like quality.  I love how quiet everything seems when it’s foggy.  Almost as quiet as it gets when it snows.

Thanks for playing along with my little photography challenge!  It’s been fun!  I hope you try it, too!

This 6th picture in my nature series is from Oct 2016.  I was out watering my garden when the light-play on the trees down the way caught my eye.  I loved how the trees in back were catching some full-on sunlight, while the trees immediately in front of them were totally in shadow.  One of the trees was even caught a bit in both worlds, the orange one on the right!  The camera doesn’t quite capture how much that light-play made the tree look like it was glowing.

The 5th picture in my nature series is from 2015.  The kids had been outside on a lovely June day, when they came inside to excitedly tell me there was a “sunbow.”  It was so bright, I couldn’t look at it to take a picture, so I ducked under the overhang above our front door, aimed my phone “up” and hoped for the best.  This is what I got.  🙂  This bow completely encircled the sun.

The 4th picture in my nature series is one of my favorites.  From 2014, Venus was a sight to behold in the early morning sky.  It’s a bit after 6 am here, in February.  I even found an article about this celestial event!  Dazzling Venus and Moon Meet Up in Morning Sky Wednesday: How to See It  I couldn’t believe I actually captured Venus as well as I did with my phone camera!  I mean, I know it’s not a great picture or anything like that, it’s a smartphone after all, but I got Venus!  And it’s not even super blurry!

The 3rd picture in my nature series is from 2013.  March, as you can tell from the St Patrick’s Day decorations I had on the window, lol.  We’d had a snow storm a day or two before, and I saw these little birds pecking through the snow looking for worms, or something.  They left lots of tiny birdy footprints all over the place and I thought it was so cute, and at the same time, kind of poignant.

The 2nd picture in my nature photo series is from 2012.  On this May day, a friend of mine decided that the kids and I needed to walk on some sand, so she drove up and took us to a nearby beach area.  We didn’t swim, but the kids waded a bit.  Waaaaay off in the distance in the picture, is the Chicago skyline, probably 50ish miles due South.  I liked the driftwood that was on the beach.  I thought it gave it a certain kind of character that day.

This first picture in my series is from September 2011.  I was able to capture a double rainbow!  I adore rainbows, and I’ll run outside without shoes if I see one out my window, in the hope of taking a picture of it.  Sometimes they’re so fleeing they’re gone before I can get out the door, but this time I got lucky.  🙂
