Has anyone else noticed that Miss Aretha, and Elvis, “left the building” on the same day?
The Queen of Soul – Aug 16, 2018
The King of Rock and Roll – Aug 16, 1977
I think this is my current most favorite song ever. I hear it and I can’t help but dance!
My knees hate me now, more than ever.
But I love this song!
And of course, I have to share the Destiny “version” with you, because those Guardians sure do know how to dance! They give me dance envy. 😀
My kids are gamers. That’s no secret. My son is much more flexible and will play nearly anything we throw at him. He just finished Mass Effect Andromeda and really liked it.
My daughter, on the other hand, will only play Destiny. It was a game my son picked out about a year and half ago, and for a good six weeks after we got it, my daughter wouldn’t even touch it.
But then, she did.
And she hasn’t played any other game since.
Recently … well, a couple months ago recently when we were last on school break, she made it to the pinnacle in Destiny, the fabled Lighthouse. It’s a grueling challenge to get there, requiring nine consecutive victorious Trials matches. They call it “going flawless.” There was much cheering in the house that night!
Then we found these parody songs, and both of them fit my daughter to a tee, and make me laugh, so I thought I’d share them.
I hope you enjoy!
I have decided that I want to get Gwen Stefani’s new album. And a few others, but right now, I want that one. I’ve listened to all the little snippets that Google Play lets you listen to, and I like them. She doesn’t have a video for one of my favorites on the list, but I think this one might run a close second.
Another song that just speaks to me is this one by Kelly Clarkson. It’s been one of my favorites for a long time now. The video cracks me up, too. I am SO one of those people! Many years ago, I looked up from where I was stopped at a traffic light, to see a trucker clapping at my car dancing. D’oh! *redface* I chose to believe the thumbs up he gave me was because I was an awesome car dancer and not an amusing idiot. Quit laughing! Awesome car dancing is too a thing! Well, it should be!
The wind and ice was so bad today that we turned our computers and electronics off for safety’s sake. We kept having these power flickers where things would go slightly dim for a few seconds, then restore itself to normal. I had a delivery guy come this afternoon, and a trip that should have taken him 10 mins took close to 40. He said there were several cars in ditches along the sides of the roads and that things were really icy. So, Winter has finally arrived in Chicagoland, ain’t it grand? [yes, that IS sarcasm!] It certainly doesn’t help for those folks who get the post-Christmas blues.
Which is part of why I love this song so much. Just because Christmas day is over, doesn’t mean that Christmas has to be over in our hearts, right? We can have that every day. And I particularly love this song because there is a day-after-Christmas birthday in our home. I think I’m going to make it part of my post-Christmas tradition now. I hope you enjoy!
Christmas is almost here!! Are you excited yet? My husband – who is now on vacation, yay! – and I are more excited than the kids, I think. Probably because we know what they’re getting, heheheh.
Two of my favorite songs are by Matthew West. I fell in love with his re-arrangement of a tradition hymn, and another song he sings from his The Heart of Christmas album.
I hope you like them, too!
Daughter: Mom, what’s the longest word you know?
Mom: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It was a song … from a Disney movie …
Daughter: How do you spell it?
Mom: Like it sounds. (You hush, dear Reader! It’s a long freaking word and I don’t have it memorized!)
So, now that the song is stuck in MY head, I figured I’d share the love so it can be stuck in YOUR head, too. You’re welcome.
PS. Daughter made a horrified face after seeing the video.
