September 19-Somethin’ Challenge Day 11

September 19-Somethin’ Challenge | McClendon Villa19-Somethin_Sidebar_Button

This challenge is prompted by the song 19-Somethin’ by Mark Wills. You can hear the song here: https://youtu.be/UhSCeItgUEc
The following questions are taken from the various lines in the song.  There are also a few random questions thrown into the mix to make it a post a day for the month – 30 posts.

11. What was your favorite music genre when you were young and on what format did you first listen to it?

Rock, always and forever rock!  Wait, the Monkees were rock, right?  I always thought of them as rock.  Everything came through the radio, and record albums.  We did have an 8-track, and my father had a reel-to-reel that he played sometimes.

  1. We had an 8-track player in the car, but also a radio. Mostly we played the radio when I was a kid and it was always country.

I think the Monkees were considered rock. I wonder what they’d be considered now? Elvis was considered rock ‘n roll, but now is considered country and some of what is considered country these days, I would classify as pop, not country.

What was your favorite kind of rock? I didn’t generally like the head-banging, heavy metal stuff, but I did like a Quiet Riot song and AC/DC’s Back in Black, and a few others that fell into heavy metal.
    Have a great day!

    1. I never got into the head-banging stuff either, although I do like some AC/DC now and then. For me, rock is Aerosmith, Foreigner, Journey, ELO, Queen, bands like that.

It’s funny how they change up which category the music supposedly belongs to. I didn’t realize they did that, lol.

You have a blessed day too! 🙂
