Word of the Day: Onto
I really wanted to focus my thoughts onto my blog while I was in the bath, but I didn’t. I got sidetracked by focusing my thoughts onto … soap. Why I would focus on soap while in the bath is beyond me, but there you go.
I was thinking about how I popped onto Amazon over the weekend to check out different colors of minerals I could use in my soaps. So many colors! My imagination hopped from one idea onto the next, this color onto that color and would that be pretty or yucky looking? My brain was awhirl. I realized that allowing my mind to move it’s focus onto soaping really soothed me after the earlier stresses of that day. I played with several different recipes in SoapCalc, to see how they might potentially turn out. I even printed up a few to add onto my growing soap recipe file.
Generally, I’m not known as a creative type. I can’t draw, can’t paint, can’t sing, can’t write stories. I can plant a decent garden though, and that’s had to suffice as far as creativity goes. But this thing with soaping, I’m wondering if I’ve finally stumbled onto my creative outlet, after all these years. The beauty of it, unlike gardening, is that you can do it year round in colder climates. And, it’s calorie free, unlike baking.
I recognize that I’m a novice at this, and that I have a very long way to go before I’m any good at it, but right now, I’m enjoying it. A lot.

Oh, my goodness- you are a soap maker! That is awesome. I would love to make soap. I did a workshop in soapmaking last year and enjoyed it so much-and hey don’t say you’re not creative-look at all the great writing you do!

I am! Well, a novice. 🙂
A workshop sounds like fun! Did you get to make a batch of soap?
Oh, well, thank you. 🙂 I’ve never felt my blogging was on the creative side, I mean, so many people can tell such amazing stories! They do fascinating things and go to wonderful places! And then there’s me – I ironed my husband’s shirts today, lol, which is why I almost never post to Facebook either. 🙂

Then you are far more talented than I! I still have trouble getting straight lines with a ruler.
And hey, you’re not part of this creatively impaired club! I’ve read your stuff! You’re good!

You are still a very creative soul, and I would love to sit across the table from you and share a cup of coffee. 🙂 Irish coffee, naturally. 😀

I know, right?! I had no idea I’d love it so much. My friend kept encouraging me, and I was so paranoid about working with lye, but then I learned that it’s no more scary than using bleach in the laundry. Now I think about making soap all the time, lol.

Yep, new soaps! Made some today, have some planned for the next few days, too. Yay!
I’m not nearly as DIY as I wish I was, so I can totally relate to the ooing and ahing. 🙂 We can be the cheer section, you and I. 😀
