It’s the first Thursday of the month, that means it’s time for a thankfulness post!
It occurred to me, around three this morning when the power came back on, again, that I am really thankful for electricity. It’s one of those things, you kind of take it for granted while you have it. But when it’s missing, you really feel it! When the power goes out – which thankfully isn’t that often for us – I always think about how people lived before electricity became a common household thing. I loved the Little House books when I was a girl, so being without power made me feel a little like Laura Ingalls. It still does, in a way.
Despite my love for all things Laura, though, I am a modern-conveniences girl at heart. I love my tech devices, and things like washing machines and ovens with the electronic ignition, and automatic coffee pots. Our lives today are so different than they were for our pioneer ancestors! In some ways harder, but in many other ways, easier.
For that, I am thankful.
Without electricity, I wouldn’t know you. Or my husband, either! LOL
